When many purchasers choose steel belt pipes, their first reaction is to pull the quotations of several suppliers, always feeling that the lower the unit price, the more cost-effective it is. But after actual use, they found that they seemed to have picked up a cheap low-priced pipe, and either the ring stiffness was insufficient and the pipeline was deformed after less than a year of use, or the weld cracked and caused leakage. The cost of subsequent maintenance and replacement far exceeded the price difference saved at the beginning. The first step is to check the core material parameters, such as the actual thickness of the steel strip and the density and thickness of the outer polyethylene. Some suppliers will steal the thickness of the steel strip in order to lower the quotation, or use recycled materials to make the outer polyethylene. The compression resistance and corrosion resistance of such pipes are greatly reduced, and the service life is only about one-third of that of regular products.

Secondly, it depends on the details of the production process. The steel strip pipes of regular manufacturers use a continuous welding process, the weld is flat and firm, and the ring stiffness is stable to the standard; while small workshops may use intermittent welding, the pipeline is unevenly stressed, and it is prone to damage when buried in the ground. These process differences will not be directly reflected in the quotation, but they are the key to affecting the long-term use of the pipeline.

In addition, the comprehensive procurement cost should also be taken into account, such as the logistics fee incurred by the transportation distance, the after-sales guarantee period provided by the supplier, and whether installation guidance is included. Some suppliers offer low prices, but the purchaser needs to bear the high logistics fee by himself, or only provide three months of quality assurance. Once there is a problem, the maintenance cost is fully borne by the purchaser, which is not cost-effective.

When comparing the quotations of many steel belt pipes, it is advisable to make a detailed list, convert the material, process, after-sales, logistics and other factors into it, and then calculate the comprehensive cost performance. After all, steel belt pipes are engineering materials that have been used for a long time.
