The old city of Xiangyang has been built for a long time, and the original drainage pipe network is mostly a confluence system. Problems such as sewage overflow in rainy days and waterlogging in sunny days have long plagued residents and also affected the urban ecological environment. Since the beginning of this year, the local area has launched a rain and sewage diversion and quality improvement project in individual residential areas. Plastic pipes have become the core materials of the project due to their advantages of strong adaptability and convenient construction.
During the implementation of the project, the construction team selected different specifications of plastic pipes for the characteristics of limited space and complex pipe network layout in the old community: high-density polyethylene double-wall corrugated pipes are used for the main drainage pipe network, which are pressure-resistant and corrosion-resistant, and can adapt to complex underground geological conditions; UPVC pipes are used for the branch pipe network of buildings, which is light and easy to install, effectively shortening the construction period. At the same time, combined with the actual topography of the community, the pipeline direction is optimized to ensure the complete diversion of rainwater and sewage - rainwater is discharged into the municipal rainwater pipe network through special pipes and eventually merged into the Han River; sewage is transported to the sewage treatment plant through an independent pipe network, which solves the problem of mixed flow pollution from the root.
So far, more than ten old residential areas have been renovated, and residents can intuitively feel the environmental changes: the road surface is no longer stagnant in rainy days, the odor around the building disappears, and the overall appearance of the community is completely new. The application of plastic pipes has not only efficiently promoted the process of rain and sewage diversion in the old city, but also injected practical impetus into the quality improvement of Xiangyang's old city by improving the drainage capacity of the community and improving the living environment. Next, the local area will continue to promote the transformation of the remaining residential areas, with plastic pipes as the core support to create a more livable living space in the old city.
